Stella Maris Church and The Island Wedding

Starting with the boys at The Island Surfers Paradise they were all dressed and ready to go. Alex appeared to be calm, but surely his heart was racing a million miles per hour. The boys cruised on through this part of the day and as time went on, you could see Alex’s nerves start to set in.

Not having to travel far we then made our way to Sue who was staying at the Q1. Sue and her bridesmaids had been here for the week leading up to the wedding spending some good old quality time together. Which I think is a great idea! As they all came from different parts of the world it was wonderful to see them maintain such a strong bond with one another. Sue hadn’t yet decided on a maid of honour, so we had a running joke that the bridesmaid with the most gold stars would be receive the title maid of honour, all of them rushing to her assistance it was a funny joke we had going all day!

Sue’s parents had walked in the room and I have to say, when her Mother saw her for the first time in her wedding dress it was a moment I wont ever forget. The emotion and connection they both had was out of this world. The love you could feel from a mile away. What a special moment.

Moving along it was time to head down to where our lovely ceremony was to be held, Stella Maris Church. All location very close together which is always a bonus! The church was amazing, with lots of light and a lot of room to move around it was perfect in the eyes of a wedding photographer.

Outside the weather was a little iffy, but that didn’t phase us! After the ceremony had concluded, we rushed through the family photo’s to try and get outside before it started to rain, we made it just in time scoring 15 minutes before the rain started to get just a little too heavy for everyone's liking.

Moving along from here we made our way back to the reception venue, The Island Surfers Paradise. As we made our way in, the beautiful sun decided to come out and play. By this point, we were 11 stories high and not far from entering the reception. Using one of the conference rooms, we did the best we could to still get some of that beautiful sunset before the rest of the night commenced.

As the night continued on we got to witness some pretty awesome speeches by the bridal party, I would have to say this is one of my favourite parts of the day. There are lots of favourite parts if I am being honest, but when the maid of honour, best man, father or mother gets up to say a few words It’s either beautiful and loving or humorous. In this case, they managed to combine the two. Luckily it was all filmed for their awesome wedding video so they can watch back those moments time and time again, reminiscing on the leather jacket moment. lol.

Anyway, back to the story!

The rest of the night was filled with fun times, good friends, loved family and everything in-between. You couldn’t ask for much more!

We wish Alex + Sue all the very best and thank them for having us be apart of such a special day.
