Alex & Sue’s Gold Coast wedding was one of those days filled with emotion, laughter and unforgettable moments from beginning to end. With wedding preparations spread across some of the Gold Coast’s most iconic locations, the entire day flowed beautifully and created the perfect backdrop for a timeless cinematic wedding film.
We started the morning with the boys at The Island Surfers Paradise where everyone was already dressed and ready to go. The atmosphere was relaxed, full of laughs and classic groomsmen banter, but underneath it all you could tell Alex was beginning to feel the excitement and nerves of the day ahead. As the morning unfolded, those emotions slowly became more visible, creating some really genuine moments that always add so much heart to a wedding video.
Not long after, we made our way over to Q1 where Sue and her bridesmaids had been staying together in the lead up to the wedding. We absolutely loved this idea because it gave everyone time to properly relax and spend quality time together before the celebrations began. With friends and family travelling from different parts of the world, there was such a beautiful sense of connection between everyone in the room.
One of the funnier moments throughout the day was the ongoing joke about who would become maid of honour. Sue hadn’t officially chosen one, so naturally the bridesmaids turned every helpful moment into a competition to earn “gold stars” throughout the day. It became a running joke that kept everyone laughing and added such a fun and personal energy to the morning preparations.
One of the most emotional moments of the entire wedding happened shortly after when Sue’s parents walked into the room and saw her in her wedding dress for the first time. The reaction from her mum was something truly unforgettable. There was so much love, pride and emotion between them that you could feel it radiating through the entire room. These are the moments we love most as wedding videographers because they become memories families hold onto forever.
Soon it was time to make our way to Stella Maris Church for the ceremony. Having all the locations close together made the day run so smoothly, which is always a huge bonus for both photography and videography. Stella Maris Church was absolutely stunning inside, filled with beautiful natural light and elegant architecture that created the perfect atmosphere for a romantic church wedding on the Gold Coast.
Although the weather outside threatened rain throughout the afternoon, it thankfully held off just long enough for family photos and bridal party portraits after the ceremony. We managed to sneak outside and capture some beautiful moments before the rain finally rolled in, almost like the weather gave us a tiny window of magic before changing its mind.
Afterwards, everyone returned to The Island Surfers Paradise for the wedding reception and, almost on cue, the sun decided to make an appearance again. Being high above Surfers Paradise created such a beautiful setting for the evening celebrations. Before heading into the reception, we took advantage of the light and captured some final romantic wedding video footage overlooking the Gold Coast skyline.
As the night unfolded, guests were treated to some incredible speeches from the bridal party and family members. Emotional one minute and hilarious the next, the speeches perfectly reflected Alex & Sue’s personalities and relationship. One particular story involving a leather jacket had the entire room laughing, and thankfully every second was captured forever in their cinematic wedding film.
The rest of the evening was filled with dancing, laughter, happy tears and the kind of atmosphere every couple dreams of on their wedding day. Surrounded by close friends, loving family and so much genuine happiness, Alex & Sue celebrated the beginning of their new chapter together in the most beautiful way possible.
